What is NCQ?

NCQ stands for Native Command Queuing. Drives and host bus adapters can use this feature of newer versions of SATA products to queue up commands to the drive. Up to sixteen commands can be queued to each drive. This allows the drive to optimize the reads and writes of the data blocks.

Ease Software's drivers take advantage of NCQ as well as the excellent architecture of the Silicon Image SiI3124-2 SATA controller chip to queue up an unlimited amount of data. Most disk controllers limit the amount of data that can be sent or requested in a single command. But the SiI3124-2 removes these limitations.
